Indoor Rock Climbing
This is the only ABLE course that takes place indoors. The course will take place twice a week for five weeks. Students will leave school at lunchtime, miss their afternoon class blocks, and return at 3:00. The climbing will take place at the Downingtown Rock Gym. After students have mastered the basic climbing skills, they will have the opportunity to visit the rock gym on their own for the duration of the course. Students need to have eight climbing sessions at the gym to complete the course. The course progresses from bouldering to automatic belay systems and then top rope belays. The students are encouraged through the use of challenge by choice to allow each individual to do as much as they can, without being overwhelmed.
