Rock Climbing

ABLE- Rock Climbing

After a series of class meetings to learn the basics, this course starts with a day at an indoor climbing gym. The following five outings take place outdoors on real rock. High Rock Vista in Ralph Stover State Park and Birdsboro Climbing Quarry are two of the sites used during the course. Each day, the group will climb at a different location within these two climbing areas. As the course progresses, the climbs increase in height and difficulty. The final day traditionally takes place on a climb called “Open Face,” which is 110 feet from bottom to top. Students choose their level of difficulty and are encouraged to challenge their limits. No prior climbing experience is needed.
