Meet Alex Ball

Alex Ball joined the Upper School faculty at DVFriends in the 2020-2021 school year as an experienced art teacher. She loves teaching all types of art including Drawing, Painting, Photography, Ceramics, Printmaking, Mixed Media, Collage, and Sculpture.

 

Alex says, “I love all forms of visual art. I enjoy teaching people of all ages but, I especially enjoy working with Upper School students because they are able to think conceptually and make sophisticated and complex artwork.”

 

Working on schoolwide art projects to benefit the community is also of interest to Alex. “Being an active member in my school’s community and teaching the whole student are aspects of teaching, I find very rewarding.”

 

Alex has been teaching in independent schools since 2001 and has taught in several schools along the east coast. Alex holds a BFA in Sculpture and an MFA in Painting.

 

Since moving to Philadelphia in 2016, Alex has been teaching pottery to adults and sells her work in West Philadelphia.

 

Prior to teaching at DV Alex taught Upper School Art at Sanford School in Hockessin, Delaware for 12 years, and art to Montessori students at Greene Towne Montessori in Center City Philadelphia.
