HELPFUL INFORMATION

MIDDLE SCHOOL PE SHIRTS -- Required

In an effort to encourage hygiene and ensure that all students are dressed properly for gym/PE class, we require all middle school students to change before and after PE. We provide a t-shirt - at no charge -- to NEW students. Additional or replacement t-shirts can be purchased for $10. Please use the order form in PowerSchool Forms to order PE shirts.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES

SUMMER READING -- Deadline Sept. 9, 2026

Each student in middle school will read ONE book selected for their grade this summer - see the list linked below - and two books of their own choosing. All books are available on Learning Ally unless otherwise noted. Students are asked to take notes and/or sketches of the selected book as noted in the handout linked from the reading list. When we return to school in September, English classes will begin the term with further literary analysis and projects related to the book selected for each grade.

FALL ATHLETICS & PRE-SEASON PRACTICES

Follow the link below to a letter from Athletic Director Jalal Rhamirich about our Fall Sports, Pre-Season Practices (August 31, Sep 1-4, 2026), and athletic forms needed for the 2026-27 season. DVFriends sports teams are open to anyone interested in participating in grades 6 - 12. We have a no-cut policy, three seasons, and girls, boys, and co-ed options in soccer, cross country, tennis, basketball, lacrosse, golf, ultimate frisbee, and volleyball.

Fall Pre-Season Schedule: 8/31, 9/1-4

Soccer -- 10:00 am - 12:00 pm on the DVFriends Turf Field

Girls’ Tennis -- 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at East Goshen Park – East Goshen Park is located at 1661 Paoli Pike, West Chester, PA 19380. Transportation between DVFriends and East Goshen Park will be provided by the school. With written permission from a parent or guardian, students may meet the team and/or be picked up at the park.

Co-ed Cross Country -- 11:00 am - 1:00 pm meet on the DVFriends Lower Field and the team will walk with coaches to Airdrie Forest Preserve Trail, Fennerton Rd, Paoli, PA 19301

LUNCH PROGRAM

DVFriends partners with Brock to provide daily lunch service to all students, included in tuition for the 2026-27 school year. Each student will receive a full lunch at no additional cost, including an entrée, sides, and a drink (water or milk).

Breakfast items, snacks, and additional drink options will be available for purchase. Families may fund their student’s account online or send in cash, which will be added to the account. Please note: Brock staff cannot provide change, but any overages will be credited to the student’s account.

To get started, visit dvfriends.familyportal.cloud to create a Meal Magic account. A short instructional video is available to guide you through the setup process. You’ll need your student’s ID number from PowerSchool to log in.

LEARNING ALLY

Middle School students receive an account to Learning Ally where they can access summer reading and other texts via audio. New students will receive an email from DVFriends with their Learning Ally account information from Tracy Seggern, Academic Systems Coordinator and Registrar, once they are enrolled and added to the system. Returning students, your login information is the same as last year.
