Delaware Valley Friends School seeks outstanding candidates for the opening of Payroll and Benefits
Administrator. The Payroll & Benefits Administrator bears primary responsibility for the payroll and
benefits administration functions within the business office and supports other business office
functions, including accounts payable and receivable. This is an exempt, 12-month position, reporting
to the Chief Financial Officer. Candidates with diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.

Oversight and responsibilities:
● Collects, prepares and processes the semi-monthly payroll through the school’s outsourced
payroll service.
● Remits payment of payroll/benefit-related bills, such as for the retirement plan, health savings
account (HSA), and various insurance policies.
● Advises school faculty and staff on benefits options and assists them in enrollment in and
updating of benefits, including retirement plan, health and dental insurance, and time off.
● Receives and records student tuition payments, contributions, and other cash receipts; creates
invoices for new school year and new student tuitions.
● Assists with assessments of internal controls and process documentation; proposes changes to
remedy any control deficiencies.
● Assists in the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and in the preparation of related annual
audit schedules.
● Attends required events as referenced in the Faculty & Staff Handbook.
● Engages in ongoing professional development relevant to the position.
● Other duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer or Head of School.
● Supports the School and its mission, maintaining a high degree of professionalism at all times.

● Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or a related field.
● At least two years of experience in a payroll, human resources, or accounting role, preferably
in a school or nonprofit environment.
● Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
● Proficiency in the use of payroll, human resources and accounting systems.
● Fluency in Microsoft Excel, including efficient and reliable use of formulas.
● Strong customer service orientation toward and ability to communicate effectively with
external constituents, including families, donors and vendors, and internal constituents,
including faculty and staff.
● Familiarity with and appreciation for Quaker principles.
