Service and stewardship are central to a DVFriends education, reflecting our Quaker values and commitment to helping students grow beyond academics. In Lower and Middle School, students engage in age-appropriate, division-wide service learning and projects that build awareness of others and responsibility to their communities.
In Upper School, that foundation evolves into Stewardship, giving students a greater voice and more independence in exploring how they can contribute.
Stewardship in the Upper School
Stewardship is a 10th and 11th grade program that connects students with organizations serving our community through learning, service, and reflection, with student voices helping shape the experience.
- Learn. Meet people from community organizations to understand what they do, who they serve, why the work matters, and what inspires them.
- Serve. Step off campus to work alongside these organizations on projects that respond to real community needs.
- Reflect and Share. Consider and share what you learned: about the community, yourself, and how your own strengths, interests, and voice can make a difference.
Rooted in our Quaker identity and student-centered approach, Stewardship helps students explore what it means to contribute thoughtfully to something larger than themselves.
Service Club: Students Leading Students
Open to all Upper School students, Service Club is a student-run group that organizes opportunities to serve, from the annual Thanksgiving food drive to other collections and community initiatives. Separate from the grade-level Stewardship curriculum, the club gives students another way to lead, serve, and respond to community needs.
