TJ Costa
TJ Costa joined DVFriends in 2023 as the ABLE Director. He brings a rich background in experiential, outdoor, and Quaker education, holding a B.A. in English Literature and Forestry from the University of Vermont, an M.A. in Education from Columbia University, and completing the Outdoor Educator Course with the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS).
TJ began his career as a classroom English teacher before discovering his passion for working outdoors and helping people connect with nature. He spent several years as an Outward Bound Field Instructor and Course Director, later worked as a farmer using hands-on learning to teach about land and food, and served as Sustainability Director and Outdoor Education Program contributor at another Quaker school.
He enjoys spending time in the mountains with his family, mountain biking year-round, and snowboarding in the winter. TJ is also a certified Wilderness First Responder.
