Matt Benjamin

Matt joined DVFriends in 2018 and brings a unique blend of classroom and real-world experience to his role as Culinary Arts Teacher and Eye to Eye Coordinator. He holds a B.A. in Political Science from James Madison University and a B.A. in History and Education from SUNY Cortland.

Before coming to DVFriends, Matt taught Social Studies at Universal Vare Charter School and Hardy Williams High (Mastery Charter), and spent 12 years in restaurant management, where he developed his passion for food, teamwork, and leadership.

Outside of school, Matt enjoys hiking with his family. He continues to grow as an educator through programs like the Gilder Lehrman Teacher Symposium, which he attended in both 2023 and 2024.
