Student Life

At DVFriends we recognize the importance of a well-rounded educational experience and development of the whole child. Our welcoming student community is diverse and inclusive. Students have an opportunity to participate in many extracurricular and school-sponsored activities that are not only a great way to have fun and make new friends but to also discover and develop new interests and talents.

With over 20 clubs and student government committees, DVFriends students find that they can discover and pursue new interests. In addition, any student can start their own school-sponsored club. Time is built into the school day for many of the clubs and student government committees to meet, making engagement in the activities easy.

Inclusive co-curricular and social activities
The leaders of our Quaker-based student government are upper school students, but they create fun, community-building experiences for students across all divisions. Our athletic teams have a no-cut policy so every student in grades 6-12 can try a new sport with confidence that they’ll be part of the team. Middle and upper school students can be part of the production team for the school's annual original musical as writers, songwriters, actors, stage crew, or members of the pit band. Students of all ages can participate in activities such as movies, dances, holiday celebrations, spirit weeks, field trips, field day activities, and Grandparents and Special Friends Day. Students build confidence, social and leadership skills, and learn collaboration and teamwork while making friends and feeling supported in a welcoming, encouraging community at DVFriends.
