Delaware Valley Friends School Receives $1M Scholarship Gift

Delaware Valley Friends School (DV) is proud to announce a $1M gift to the School from the grandparent of a DV alum. The historic gift has established a new endowed fund named The Sam Steinberg Scholarship Fund and was made in recognition of the life-changing impact that DV teachers like Sam Steinberg have on their students. The endowed fund will provide multi-year tuition support for students on the basis of financial need.

The donor, who has chosen to remain anonymous, was moved to make the gift after witnessing the growth of her grandchild on many levels - academic, social, and emotional - while at DV. "I saw the transformation that happened for him and I thought of all of those children out there who may need the same help, but might not have the finances to carry it forward."

Kirk Smothers, Head of School, says, "This significant addition to the School's endowment expands access to a DV education for students who learn differently, and is a testament to the commitment and expertise that our teachers demonstrate every day in their work with students. Our community is deeply grateful to the donor and her family for their investment in the future of DV and its students."
