Dan Berdugo, Class of 2008

Dan Berdugo graduated summa cum laude from the University of Maryland in 2013 with a B.S. in finance and a B.A. in economics. Following his graduation, he worked at an IT-centric boutique consultancy in Manhattan with Healthcare and Media & Entertainment industry focuses, including a 6-week stint in Brazil to oversee a software rollout at the 2016 Olympic Games. Dan then earned his M.B.A. with academic distinction from NYU’s Stern School of Business, and now works as a management consultant at Bain & Company in New York. Dan attributes much of his success to the individualized attention provided at DVFriends.

Dan began attending DVFriends in the 9th grade (coming from a small private school) and believes that DVFriends allowed him to better understand both his strengths and weaknesses, which he then took into account when choosing a career. Dan was always skilled in math; however, he struggled with reading as a result of his learning difference. DVFriends helped Dan to improve his reading, strengthen his math skills, and become more academically focused and organized.

While at DVFriends, Dan was captain of the boys' varsity soccer and basketball teams, and co-clerk of the school's student government. Some of Dan's most rewarding moments at Delaware Valley Friends were in class with teacher Rosalind (Roz) Turner, whom he credits with solidifying and increasing his aptitude and interest in math. Dan even stayed in touch with Roz during his time at college. "Individualized teacher to student attention is something DVFriends does better than anywhere else," according to Dan. "I benefited greatly from being able to work closely with teachers who not only cared about me as a person but knew how to instruct me as a student. My parents' investment in DV truly paid off, I am happy with the results."

DVFriends allowed Dan to address his weaknesses, improve upon his strengths, and understand the skills and strategies he needed to develop into the accomplished scholar and professional that he is today.
