DVFriends Dragon Mascot
At Delaware Valley Friends School, we value interscholastic athletics, and our program is an integral part of the educational experience.

Our mission is to teach and promote sportsmanship, ethical conduct, discipline, and teamwork while developing the physical and mental well-being of our student-athletes. Our athletic program is broad and provides opportunities for all students to participate as well as excel. At DVFriends, over 80% of students play sports and compete in athletic competitions at both the middle school and high school levels. Our no-cut program makes this possible. We believe the success of DVFriends Sports is shown in the passion, perseverance, and teamwork displayed by our student-athletes. Our athletic program is built more around inclusion, engagement, and teamwork than around the results on the scoreboard. Each spring, we celebrate all of our teams and players at an Annual All Sports Banquet.

DVFriends is part of the Penn Jersey Athletic Association, whose mission is to provide schools in the Delaware Valley, including Pennsylvania and New Jersey, the opportunity to compete interscholastically. The member schools emphasize the educational value of athletics, promote safe and sportsmanlike competition, and encourage broad participation from as many student-athletes as possible.

We offer boys and girls teams in soccer, basketball, and lacrosse. We have a girls tennis team in the fall and our cross country, volleyball, spring tennis, ultimate frisbee, and golf teams are coed. All of our sports teams are no-cut, encouraging students to participate whether they are veteran athletes or new to a sport. Click the Athletic Teams link on the right side of the page to see a list of current DVFriends teams, and links to team schedules.

Championships and Sportsmanship Awards
Our teams have earned a number of League championships, including titles in soccer, golf, lacrosse, and ultimate frisbee. Our athletic program has also won the League sportsmanship award eight times and the Chester County Sports Officials Sportsmanship and Fair Play Award three times. DVFriends is committed to fair play, graciousness toward an opponent and referees, and genuine concern and respect for others. DVFriends has adopted the TEAM approach in which our ultimate goal is Teaching, Educating, Advocating, and Modeling all of the aims and ideals of good sportsmanship.

Other Sports and PE Options
There are non-competitive options available for students at DVFriends, such as team manager positions, and students may earn PE credit for participating in a sport at the varsity level outside of DVFriends. Some examples include hockey, baseball, softball, equestrian competition, dance, and martial arts.

DVFriends Dragon Mascot
The DVFriends mascot is Darby the dragon and our athletic logo was designed by two DVFriends alumni: Nicole Debrocky-Fusfeld '07 and Tyler Klaus '07.
