The mission of the committee is to provide a framework upon which students and staff can build a community of inclusion without forfeiting one's identity.

AFFINITY SPACES
In addition, there are four student-led groups that focus on particular affinity spaces. These groups are based on student interests and initiative.

- BSU (Black Student Union) creates a space of community and affirmation for people of African descent.
- Gender Sexuality Alliance is dedicated to promoting an atmosphere at DVFriends that is inclusive and accepting of all people regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation by increasing awareness and understanding.
- Feminism seeks to educate themselves and the community about concerns that create an impediment to equality, such as wage inequality, educational inequality, and violence toward women.
- Jewish Student Union (JSU) shares experiences and celebrates traditions in the Jewish faith and helps to inform the wider DVFriends community
